DENVER -- Lakewood police are looking for the man who broke into a pawn shop and tried to steal handguns.

Police said the robber broke into the Cash American pawnshop on Wadsworth Boulevard on Aug 18.

He used a ratchet wrench to break the glass in a display counter and steal three handguns, said Lakewood Police Spokesman Steve L. Davis.

The robber put the guns in a bag and ran away. A store employee chased the man down Colfax Avenue, Davis said.

Eventually the man dropped the bag and outran the employee, he said.

The robber is described as a white man between 25 and 35 years old. He was wearing a dark shirt, a dark hat, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

Detectives believe that the robber may have cut himself when he broke the glass in the display counter.
