CANON CITY, Colo. -- An attendance clerk at Fremont Middle School who also supervises in-school suspension and detention has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, Florence police said.

Stephanie Kay Bellino, 39, was being held on a $50,000 cash bond Sunday.

Bellino has been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation, said Cyndy Scriven, the superintendent of the Florence-Penrose School District

The department received information about Bellino on Aug. 14.

Chief Timothy Bell said police received information from "concerned people." He would not elaborate.

An investigation is ongoing.
