As the big snow storm left Colorado Wednesday, 1,800 customers were still without power at 9 p.m., Xcel Energy officials said.

As many as 36,000 Xcel customers were without power when the powerful spring storm moved through the metro area, dropping heavy, wet snow that toppled tree branches on power lines.

Xcel said it hoped for full restoration of power by morning.

There were 40 Xcel crews working on the outage.

Crews are also dealing with wind flap." That's when the wind causes the power lines to flap against each other causing voltage dips which results in the dimming of lights for residential customers.
