A female passenger died on a Delta Airlines flight Wednesday, causing the pilot to make an emergency landing at the Colorado Springs Airport.

Delta Airlines said a woman became unresponsive on a Detroit-to-Phoenix flight Wednesday morning.

The pilot of Flight 1921 declared an emergency and landed in Colorado Springs, a Delta official said. The woman was removed from the plane and it was confirmed she was deceased.

The cause of the woman's death was not known.

The flight continued to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, where it landed about 12:35 p.m. Mountain Time.
