Woman Bites Sexual Assailant On Neck; He Flees

Woman Attacked Leaving Party In Edwards Early Sunday

A woman in Edwards drove off a man sexually assaulting her by biting him on the neck early Sunday, an Eagle County sheriff's spokesman said.

The woman was sexually assaulted by a stranger about 1 a.m. Sunday after she left a party in the Old Edwards Estates subdivision to walk home, said Shannon Cordingly, spokeswoman for the Eagle County Sheriff's Office.

"During the attack the victim fought back and bit her attacker on the neck," Cordingly said. "The bite stopped the attack, and the attacker ran off."

The woman called 911 and her parents after the attack, Cordingly said. The victim described her attacker as a Hispanic male with a nearly shaved head in his mid-twenties. The man had earrings and a piercing above his right eye. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt.

Authorities asked anyone who may have information about the man or the crime to call the Eagle County Sheriff's Office at 970-328-8500 or Eagle County Crime Stoppers at 970-328-7007 and 800-972-TIPS.
