JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. -- Erratic winds kept firefighters busy as they worked a brush fire in Jefferson County early Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters were battling the three-acre Hogback Fire which could be seen from downtown Denver after getting initial reports at around 1:15 p.m. The brush fire was burning near Bowles Avenue and C-470.

The fire was 100 percent contained before 8 p.m,, officials told Denver7.

At least 30 firefighters were working to contain the flames as erratic winds were pushing the fire at the top of the hogback.

No structures were threatened and the fire was under control as of 3:30 p.m., officials said.

Firefighters will continue to mop up the fire on Monday morning as the steep terrain makes it dangerous for crews to work overnight.
