BOULDER, Colo. -- A woman who camped with two men charged with starting the Cold Springs Fire in July has been sentenced to three years of probation.
Elizabeth Burdeshaw, 21, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor trespassing charge as part of a plea deal, The Daily Camera reported.
Court documents say Brudeshaw camped with 28-year-old Jimmy Andrew Suggs and 26-year-old Zackary Ryan Kuykendall near Nederland over the course of several days. Officials say the two men from Vinemont, Alabama used only rocks to extinguish their campfire.
"The men did not ensure that the fire was properly extinguished by dousing it with water, or making sure the ashes were cool to the touch before leaving the site," an official with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said.
Officials believe wind in the area, combined with the weather, allowed the fire to continue smoldering.
The fire flared up and spread across more than 500 acres and destroyed eight homes.
Kuykendall and Suggs are scheduled to be arraigned Friday on arson charges.
Prosecutors say there was no evidence Burdeshaw was directly involved in creating, maintaining, or extinguishing the campfire.
