WALSENBURG, Colo. - The East Peak Fire in Huerfano County is being called 100 percent contained, but not fully controlled.
Some hotspots within the perimeter are still burning, according to Huerfano County Fire Chief Gerald Jerant.
"Those areas will be monitored daily and as necessary," the county said in a statement. "[The] threat to the surrounding area is minimal due to [containment] effective lines."
The fire burned 13,572 acres. Along the way, it consumed thirteen homes and four outbuildings.
