Because of this year's fire ban, and high fire danger, many cities aren't hosting fireworks displays. But some still are.

This is a list of communities and their activities for the July Fourth holiday.

2012 Independence Day Celebrations

ALAMOSA

  • Fireworks begin at dark at Alamosa Fairgrounds on July 4 when it gets dark, about 9 p.m. Join the Alamosa community in this good, old-fashioned down home celebration. Pancake breakfast, parade, activities, and fireworks. Learn more by calling 719-589-3681.

ARAPAHOE COUNTY

  • Sheriff Grayson Robinson has determined that all public/commercial fireworks displays planned for communities in Arapahoe County are prohibited.

ARVADA

  • The city of Arvada's annual Fourth of July celebration of the Spirit of America will continue on Wednesday, July 4 at the Lutz/Stenger Complex, W. 58th Avenue and Oak St. just west of Kipling, starting at 4:00 p.m. Festivities organized by Arvada Festivals Commission, the City of Arvada, KOOL105 Radio, and Apex Park and Recreation District include live music, kids' amusements, a classic car show, a military display, great food. The fireworks display is canceled. Admission is Free. Parking will be available on a first come, first served basis (including handicapped parking) beginning at 3:00 P.M. in the Lutz and Stenger parking lots.Call 720-898-7400, or go to Arvada.org for more information.

ASPEN

AVON

  • The Town of Avon has canceled its July 3rd fireworks show.

AURORA

  • Because of the unprecedented wildfire season, the city of Aurora has canceled its Fourth of July fireworks display However, all other celebrations, including live music and entertainment, will take place on Aurora’s Great Lawn located on the west side of the Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 4. Free activities for kids abound with face painters, balloon twists, a stilt walker and craft making throughout the evening. BLACK HAWK

  • Because of the extreme drought conditions and the unprecedented wildfire season we are currently experiencing, the City of Black Hawk has decided to cancel their annual fireworks display, “Boom Town”. More info at CityofBlackHawk.org or call 303-582-2292.

BOULDER

  • On June 27, Boulder canceled its fireworks show planned for Folsom Field at the University of Colorado due to extremely dry conditions in and around Boulder. "While it’s disappointing that conditions warrant canceling the fireworks display, public safety is the first priority," said Lew Kingdom of Wright Kingdom Real Estate, primary sponsor of the event. "The Associates of Wright Kingdom continue to be proud sponsors of Ralphie’s Independence Day Blast, and we’re looking forward to bringing back an amazing show next year."

BRECKENRIDGE

  • In consultation with the Red, White & Blue Fire Protection District, the Town of Breckenridge is planning to cancel the Independence Day fireworks display in Breckenridge that is slated for Wednesday, July 4th. This action is due to the extreme fire danger throughout Summit County, Colorado, and the western United States. If the conditions drastically improve and allow for a safe public display, authorities may reinstate the fireworks.
  • All other Independence Day activities are continuing, including a 10K trail run, the Arts District Celebration, the Firecracker 50 bike race leading the Fourth of July Parade on historic Main Street, free afternoon concert, kids' activities, and the evening National Repertory Orchestra patriotic concert at the Riverwalk Center. BRIGHTON

BROOMFIELD

  • Great American Picnic and Fireworks Extravaganza will be held at Broomfield County Commons, located at 132nd and Sheridan on July 4. We start our celebration at 6 p.m. with children's entertainment and carnival games. At 7 p.m. enjoy a free concert. Bring your picnic dinner or enjoy a hot dog grilled to perfection for a minimal cost at the park. BRUSH

BUENA VISTA

  • The Fourth of July parade will begin at 10 a.m. on East Main Street. The fireworks show has been canceled. For more information call (719) 395-6612 or go to Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce .

CANON CITY

CASTLE ROCK

  • Castle Rock has canceled its fireworks planned for Metzler Ranch Community Park. Learn more on the website for the Town of Castle Rock.

CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE

  • Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson has issued a ban on all private and public fireworks displays within Arapahoe county. Subsequently, the annual fireworks display at the Cherry Hills Village Country Club scheduled for July 4, 2012 has been canceled. Learn more at CherryHillsVillage.com.

COLORADO SPRINGS

  • Due to resources committed to the Waldo Canyon Fire and the extreme fire danger in the city, the Colorado Springs Fire Marshal has denied all permits for commercial fireworks for the 4th of July. Nine commercial fireworks displays were anticipated in the city from July 1 – 6. The city is currently in extreme fire danger due to heat, wind and lack of moisture. There are also heightened concerns due to numerous incendiary fire starts in the region over the last few days, including in Colorado Springs. These ignitions demand significant resources for response and CSFD staff must remain available for dynamic deployment, not committed to static locations such as public events.

COMMERCE CITY

  • On July 4, the fireworks will start after the Rapids game at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Free family festivities kickoff at 5 p.m. with a kid’s circus, karaoke, live 80s band, zip line, mechanical bull, climbing wall and many other activities for all to enjoy. Fireworks begin at 10 p.m. from Dick’s Sporting Good Park. Tune into 92.5 The Wolf to hear music show along with the fireworks! CREEDE

  • Festivities begin with a parade down Main Street at 10 am on the 4th, followed by games at the Ball Park. The Days of ‘92 Mining Competitions provide plenty of family fun throughout the day on both July 3 and July 4. Competitors from Colorado and surrounding states compete in hard rock mining related events. The Fireworks' Show has been canceled. For more information go to Creede.com.

CRESTED BUTTE

  • The fireworks in Crested Butte and Mount Crested Butte are canceled. However, there will be a 1/3 marathon from Gothic to Crested Butte, the traditional fireman's pancake breakfast, a parade up Elk ave, game, food and music, followed by a free concert by Amber Leigh at the mountain base at night. Activities are from 8 a.m. till 10 p.m.

CRIPPLE CREEK

  • Cripple Creek has cancelled their fireworks display this year.

DEER TRAIL

  • Deer Trail has canceled its fireworks for Saturday, July 7 at the Rodeo grounds. However the annual demolition derby is still scheduled. Call 303-769-4464 for more information.

DENVER

  • Denver's fireworks at the Civic Center Park will be held on TUESDAY, July 3. Come to the free community event featuring a patriotic concert by The Colorado Symphony, an innovative light show and stunning rooftop fireworks display atop the Denver City and County Building. Seating is first-come, first-served. Food vendors will be on-site, but picnics are also welcome. Learn more at Denver.org
  • Celebrate Independence Day at Sports Authority at Mile High with the Denver Outlaws on July 4, 2012! See the Outlaws take on expansion team the Ohio Machine and stay after the game for the largest close-proximity fireworks show in the city.   • The Colorado Rockies will have fireworks after their games on FRIDAY, June 29 and SATURDAY, June 30. Buy tickets online at ColoradoRockies.com
  • You can celebrate Independence Day at Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park. After a day filled with roller coaster rides, entertaining live shows, water slides and cotton candy, relax and enjoy a colorful fireworks display at 10 p.m.

  • The 22nd Annual Cherry Creek Arts Festival will be taking place July 6-8. The arts festival weekend event is a world-class and award-winning celebration of the visual, culinary and performing arts. DILLON

  • The town of Dillon will not have fireworks this year. The show planned for Lake Dillon has also been canceled. Learn more about the towns other celebrations at TownofDillon.com.

DOUGLAS COUNTY

  • There will be no public fireworks displays anywhere in Douglas County. Sheriff has prohibited all professional fireworks displays.

DURANGO

  • Fireworks in the city of Durango have been canceled because of the dry conditions and high fire danger.

EDGEWATER

  • The fireworks show in Edgewater has been canceled this year.

ENGLEWOOD

  • Because of the extreme fire danger in Colorado, the fireworks show scheduled for the 4th of July at Cornerstone Park has been canceled. Arapahoe County Sheriff Robinson has banned all professional fireworks displays in Arapahoe County due to the high fire danger. Learn more about the towns other celebrations at City of Englewood.

ERIE

  • The July 3rd fireworks display is a professional display hosted by the Colorado National Golf Course and funded in part by the Town of Erie. Festivities are scheduled to begin at 5 pm and the fireworks begin at dusk. For more information and updates, please visit the Colorado National Golf Course website.

ESTES PARK

  • With the safety of the community in mind, the Town of Estes Park and the Estes Valley Fire Protection District have decided to postpone the annual Independence Day fireworks display over Lake Estes. Fireworks will be rescheduled at a later date when fire conditions are no longer a concern. In the coming days, the Town will work with the community to plan an alternate event for the July 4 holiday. FIRESTONE

  • 4th At Firestone will be held on July 4th. The celebration ends with fireworks launched from Saddleback Golf Course at 9:30 p.m.. The event will feature a parade with over 60 entries, vendor and craft exhibitors. Free live music, prizes, and one of the best fireworks displays in the area by Tri-State Fireworks. FORT CARSON

  • Fort Carson's annual 4th on the 3rd Independence Day celebration has been cancelled due to the recent extreme weather conditions, which preclude the use of fireworks.

FORT COLLINS

  • July 4th will kick off in Old Town Square and Civic Center Park at 11 a.m. with petting zoos, live music all day, beer gardens, wagon rides, and much much more! The fireworks show has been canceled. For more information, call (970) 484-6500 or go to FCgov.com.

FORT LUPTON

FRISCO

  • The Frisco Town Council has voted to cancel the Town’s 4th of July fireworks display due to continued drought conditions and the extreme fire danger. Learn more about the town's other July 4th celebrations at TownOfFrisco.com.

GEORGETOWN

  • The fire chief of Clear Creek Fire Authority has canceled the fireworks at Georgetown because of the fire danger.

GLENDALE

  • The fireworks display that was to happen on July 3rd has been canceled due to the heightened fire danger throughout the area. Please stay tuned for an alternate date. Call 303-759-1513 or go to the city's website for more information.

GLENWOOD SPRINGS

  • Glenwood Springs city council has canceled its Fourth of July fireworks show.

GOLDEN

  • The City of Golden has canceled its fireworks show because of Jefferson County's fire ban. For more information call the Golden Chamber of Commerce at 303-279-3113.

GRAND JUNCTION

  • The fireworks show at Lincoln Park has been canceled. The city has also decided to ban the sale of fireworks. Learn more by calling 256-3866 or going to GJcity.org

GRAND LAKE

  • The Grand Lake Fireworks Extravaganza has been postponed due to high fire danger. Instead the fireworks ceremony will be shown on New Year's Eve. 4th of July events will include a dance party at the lake front park, best dressed patriot contest, family fun games throughout the day, Rotary Club Bingo in town park, a lighted boat parade on Grand Lake, and much more. GREELEY

  • The Greeley Stampede Independence Day Parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday. The parade route is along 10th Avenue starting at 19th Street and ends at 5th Street. Fireworks are planned for 10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4th at Stampede Park. For more information visit www.greeleystampede.org.

GREEN VALLEY RANCH

  • The fireworks show has been postponed. However, the live concert and festivities are still on. To learn more, go to GVRCO.com or call 303-595-8747.

GUNNISON

  • Fireworks will go off at dusk at Jorgensen Park on July 4th. Fun activities and events will take place at downtown Gunnison along with food and vendors. The 32nd annual hot air balloon rally, hosted by The Trough Restaurant, features launches each morning from July 2 – 4. Fireworks can be best viewed from Jorgensen Park and Legion Park. JEFFERSON COUNTY

  • Jefferson County Sheriff Ted Mink has canceled all commercial fireworks displays scheduled for the Independence Day holiday throughout the county. Bandimere Speedway and the Rolling Hills Country Club have also canceled their fireworks shows.

KEYSTONE

LA JUNTA

  • Fireworks at the La Junta Rodeo grounds has been canceled. Learn more on the city's Web site.

LAFAYETTE

  • The food, beer, music and fun planned for July fourth at Waneka Lake Park will proceed as planned, but the public fireworks display has been cancelled this year. Visit CityofLafayette.com for more.

LAKEWOOD

LITTLETON

  • Jefferson County Sheriff Ted Mink has canceled all commercial fireworks displays scheduled for the Independence Day holiday throughout the county, including the one at Clement Park hosted by ifoothills.org.
  • The Fourth of July Family Festival and Fireworks Show planned at Progress and Cornerstone Parks near the intersection of Belleview and Windermere has been canceled. For more, go to Littletongov.org.

LONE TREE

  • The City of Lone Tree’s Independence Day event will continue without fireworks. Call 303-708-1818 or go to CityofLoneTree.com for more info.

LONGMONT

  • Longmont has cancelled its fireworks display at the Boulder County Fairgrounds. The public is encouraged to celebrate the fourth with the Longmont Symphony Orchestra at its annual free Independence Day concert at noon in Thompson Park, 4th Avenue and Bross Street. The public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and a picnic lunch.

LOUISVILLE

  • Louisville has cancelled the annual July 4th festivities and fireworks due to the extremely dry conditions. The city has also reminded residents that all fireworks are illegal in Louisville.

LOVELAND

  • The Independence Day Fireworks Display at North Lake Park located at 29th and Taft Avenue is schedule to being at 9:17 p.m., following the 8 p.m "Star Spangled Spectacular" concert. Visitors to the July 4th Festival are urged to bicycle or walk to the park as parking will be limited to paid car parking in the lots at Loveland High School or on-street parking in surrounding neighborhoods. MANITOU SPRINGS

MONTROSE

  • The Montrose Rotary Club Fourth of July Fireworks have been canceled.

MORRISON

  • Due to the fire danger, Bandimere Speedway has suspended the fireworks portion of the Big O Tires "Jet Car Nationals & Family Festival" on Wednesday, July 4th. The event will still have drag racing action, including 290 mph jet dragsters, rides, games, live music, and food.

NORTHGLENN

  • Fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. over Webster Lake at E.B Rains Jr. Memorial Park, 117th Avenue and Community Center Drive (S.E corner of 120th and I-25). Scheduled activities include a pancake breakfast, a bake sale, a kids’ fun area with inflatables and a military recognition. OURAY

SILVERTON

  • The fireworks show in Silverton has been canceled.

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS

  • The July 4 fireworks show planned in the city of Steamboat Springs has been canceled due to high fire danger.

TELLURIDE

  • The Telluride town council, San Miguel county sheriff and the local fire department has canceled fireworks due to extreme fire danger.

THORNTON

  • Fireworks display at Thornton Multipurpose Fields at East 108th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard at 9:35 p.m. Events prior to fireworks include walk-around entertainers, food and the Longmont Symphony Orchestra at 8 p.m. and a parachute jump just before fireworks go off. VAIL

  • The Town of Vail is joining other communities across the state in cancelling its professional fireworks display on the Fourth of July. The decision follows previous July Fourth fireworks cancellations by the town in 2006, 2002 and 1998, also due to extreme conditions.

WELLINGTON

  • Wellington Fire Protection District has decided to cancel the fireworks display after all the festivities in Wellington on the 4th of July. This is due to the current conditions and not enough personnel to safely discharge the fireworks and protect the Town in case of a fire.

WESTMINSTER

  • The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has canceled all commercial fireworks shows this year, including the show planned in Westminster. The July 4 event will still take place, but the end of the evening will not include a fireworks show. Food vendors open at 6 p.m., at City Park. A free concert by Boogielicious starts at 7 p.m.
