MESA COUNTY, Colo. -- A camper from the City of Craig who was last seen over a week ago has been found dead, authorities confirm.
Deputies with sheriff's office responded to a report of a person found deceased on Bureau of Land Management land on Lands End Road on Friday afternoon.
When they arrived at the remote location, they confirmed the vehicle found with the deceased person was the blue and white Broncos belonging to Scott Burke.
Burke, 43, was reported missing after not returning home from a camping trip on Sept. 23.
He was looking to go camping in either the North Desert or the Bookcliff area west of De Beque, but according to authorities, he was found nowhere near the 700-square mile area deputies and other agencies had searched.
His cause and manner of death are still under investigation pending toxicology results.
