Hunters find human remains on Uncompahgre Plateau

MONTROSE COUNTY, Colo. -- Hunters found human remains on the Western Slope.

The Montrose County Sheriff's Office said the remains were found Saturday in the Sawmill Mesa area of the Uncompahgre Plateau, west of Montrose.

Deputies and members of the Montrose County Sheriff's Posse searched the area Sunday and found several bones and items of clothing, officials said.

The victim's identity and cause of death have not yet been released and officials said no other information is available at this time.
