Wal-Mart (WMT) tests in-store lockers for online customers to pick up purchases easier

Lockers being tested in undisclosed market

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Wal-Mart is trying something new -- lockers for its online customers.

The lockers will be in about a dozen stores. Shoppers who order on the Wal-Mart website can pick up their items without having to wait in a checkout line.

The test is being conducted in an undisclosed market. It's part of Wal-Mart's strategy to offer more convenience for web-savvy shoppers to make their purchases wherever they want.

Wal-Mart officials disclosed the test Tuesday at a media event at the company's global e-commerce offices in Silicon Valley.
