Volunteers Begin Stamping Valentine Cards

Loveland Remailing Program Started 66 Years Ago

Volunteers in Loveland will start stamping Valentine cards on Thursday.

Since 1946, volunteers have been stamping Valentine cards with a special message and postmark.

The 2012 special message, called a cachet, says "Valentine greetings from a city with heart, Loveland, Colorado, home of fabulous art!"

More than 160,000 cards are sent to Loveland each year to be stamped and remailed.

To get the special stamps on your cards: address them, stamp them, put them in a larger First Class envelope and mail them to:

Postmaster - Attention Valentines 446 E. 29th St. Loveland, CO 80538-9998

All valentines will be removed from the larger envelope at the post office.

To ensure delivery by Valentine’s Day, foreign mail must be received in Loveland by Feb. 4, U.S. destined mail must be received in Loveland by Feb. 9 and Colorado destined mail must be received in Loveland by Feb. 11.
