Vehicle Batteries Stolen From Denver RTD Lot

Batteries Stolen From At Least 10 Cars Tuesday, Authorities Say

At least 10 batteries were stolen from vehicles at the RTD park-and-ride lot at Colorado Boulevard and Interstate 25 Tuesday, said Scott Reed, spokesman for the Regional Transportation District.

Denver police are investigating the thefts, where someone either forced open or broke vehicle windows to pull the interior hood releases on cars, police reports said. The thief or thieves then cut electrical cables and took the batteries.

The thefts occurred between the early Tuesday hours and night, the report said.

Reed said RTD has surveillance cameras at the entrances and exits of many park-and-ride lots and on all of the light rail train platforms.

Security officials are reviewing surveillance videos for evidence on the break-ins, Reed said.
