SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Police say two people died and three others were injured in a New Year's Eve shooting after a fight at a restaurant in the Old Sacramento area.

Police spokeswoman Michele Gigante says gunfire broke out Monday evening at the Sports Corner Cafe but it was not clear whether the shooting took place in or outside of the restaurant.

Police did not release details of any suspects, but Mayor Kevin Johnson tweeted Tuesday that there was "no indication of any outstanding suspects."

After the shooting, police decided to cancel the area's midnight fireworks show, which was part of the New Year's Eve celebration. The city's visitors bureau had expected as many as 40,000 people would attend the fireworks show.
