FRESNO, Calif. - Police in California are searching for a woman who abandoned her baby at Walmart.
The woman told employees she was there to return diapers, but she didn't have a receipt. The woman then left her cart and the baby inside the store next to a security guard. She told employees she was going to get the receipt from her car, but she never returned.
Store employees said they waited for several hours before calling police, KFSN reported.
Authorities said the woman's actions are classified as illegal child abandonment and that an active search for her is underway.
