Ohio day care worker, Heather Koon, charged with rape

An Ohio day care worker is behind bars accused of engaging in sexual conduct with an infant.

Lorain County sheriff’s deputies arrested Heather Koon, 25, on Friday in Oberlin, Ohio.

Deputies said they recovered evidence from Koon’s laptop that showed her engaging in sexual conduct with an unknown infant child.

Koon was an employee at ABC KIDZ Child Care in Elyria prior to her arrest, but left the company before the allegations came to light, said Carlos Johnson, the attorney of ABC KIDZ.

Johnson released a statement to our Scripps affiliate, NewsChannel 5,  on behalf of the company:

"The daycare in cooperating with the investigation and we’re compiling a list to determine which kids were present while she, Heather Koon, worked there. We do not think there are more victims, but out of the abundance of cautiousness we want to make sure that we are correct."

Deputies said the case is considered an open and active criminal investigation.

Koon is in the Lorain County Jail, charged with two counts of rape.

Her arraignment is scheduled for Monday morning at the Elyria Municipal Court.
