George Zimmerman eBay painting bids top $100,000

If you're in the market for some art, you could be the new owner of a George Zimmerman original.

A painting selling on eBay reportedly painted by Zimmerman topped the $100,000 mark after just a few hours Monday.

Zimmerman was acquitted in July in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

The painting was listed at $.99 by the user name, "TheRealGeorgeZ" and quickly grew to just over $99,000 in a few hours. The painting is of the American flag in differing shades of blue with the words, "God, One Nation, With Liberty and Justice for All," written on it. The following is the description on the listing:

"First hand painted artwork by me, George Zimmerman. Everyone has been asking what I have been doing with myself. I found a creative, way to express myself, my emotions and the symbols that represent my experiences. My art work allows me to reflect, providing a therapeutic outlet and allows me to remain indoors :-) I hope you enjoy owning this piece as much as I enjoyed creating it. Your friend, George Zimmerman"

MyNews13 in Orlando reports that it has verified authenticity of the listing with Zimmerman's brother, Robert Zimmerman, Jr.

Zimmerman said he shot Martin in self defense during a fight in February 2012 in the gated community of Sanford. The teen's death sparked a nationwide debate about race and self-defense laws.

The auction is set to end on Dec. 22.
