Children injured when truck slams into Nebraska school bus

NORFOLK, Neb. - A Nebraska school bus carrying 14 children was forced into a ditch when a tractor-trailer slammed into it Monday morning. Eight children were taken to a hospital, including two with serious injuries.

The Mid-States school bus was carrying students from Battle Creek Public Schools when the crash happened around 7:15 a.m. According to Nebraska State Patrol, the crash happened at the intersection of Highway 275 and 549 Avenue in Norfolk, Nebraska.

The Nebraska State Patrol says fog in the area is believed to have been a factor in the crash.

A photograph shared by the Norfolk Daily News shows the truck hit the right side of the bus, just in front of the rear axle. The front of the truck looked badly damaged.

Both the driver of the bus and the driver of the truck were wearing seatbelts. Neither was injured.
