BAKERSFIELD - A cat came to her best friend's rescue when a 4-year-old boy was attacked by a dog outside his home in Bakersfield, Calif.
The family's surveillance video system shows Jeremy Triantafilo playing on his tiny bike in the driveway on Tuesday.
Then the neighbor's skulking dog sneaks up and launches a blind-side attack on the child, biting his leg and pulling him off his bike to the ground.
Out of nowhere, the boy's cat, Tara, runs to the rescue, body-slamming the dog, which runs away with the cat in hot pursuit. The cat then hurries back to the boy, who is being helped up by his mom.
Jeremy's mom, Erica Triantafilo, said she also was bit by the dog after she rescued her son, the Bakersfield Californian reported.
The boy needed several stitches to close open bite wounds on his leg, but his mom said he's doing fine, according to our sister station, KERO-TV in Bakersfield.
Erica Triantafilo said the neighbors voluntarily took their dog to the city animal shelter, where it is being quarantined for 10 days, the Californian reported.
CAUTION: The video ends with graphic images of the boy's dog bite wounds.
