2 LA police officers shot and wounded in ambush

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles police say two officers have been shot and wounded in an ambush attack outside the Wilshire Division station.

Officer Tenesha Dobine says they were shot at around 4 a.m. Tuesday.

Cmdr. Andrew Smith tells KNX-AM that the officers were returning to the station when somebody standing nearby opened fire, hitting both.

They were taken to a hospital but there's no word on their conditions.

Footage from KABC-TV in Los Angeles showed a white car in the driveway of the police station on Venice and San Vicente boulevards. No suspects are in custody.

Police spread out around the Mid-City area in a hunt for the attacker, who may have been dressed in black.
