2 arrested for alleged terror plot against Canadian passenger train

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have arrested two people in connection with an alleged terrorist plot against a passenger train.

The RCMP described an al-Qaeda supported plot that had capacity and intent but posed no "imminent threat."

The two men, identified as Chiheb Esseghaier and Raed Jaser, were arrested on Monday and charged with conspiring to attack and murder persons unknown.

The RCMP said they cooperated with the FBI in the investigation, which began in August 2012.
