Firefighters battled a two-alarm fire at a Lakewood apartment building Friday morning.
The fire was reported just before 10:30 a.m. at the two-story Eagle Crest Apartment building in the 9600 of West 16th Ave.
Firefighters reported heavy smoke and flames showing when they arrived. The fire was quickly attacked and little smoke could be seen 20 minutes later.
It was not immediately known if there were any injuries as a result of the fire.
Early reports indicate that as many as 22 families may be affected. The Mile High Chapter of the American Red Cross was sending its Disaster Action Team to the fire to aid any residents who are displaced as a result of the fire.
Fire departments typically assign apartment fires as multiple alarm, in order to call in extra equipment in case it is needed.
