BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A seventh grader in California was forced to stand on a street corner and hold a sign apologizing to her parents after they discovered she was "twerking" at a Junior High School dance.
The mother of the girl told KERO-TV she made her daughter hold a sign that read, "I was disrespecting my parents by twerking at my school dance," on the corner of Union and California avenues in Bakersfield on Monday.
The school does not outlaw the dancing style, but the mother apparently does.
The dance is not new, but recently resurfaced after Miley Cyrus danced and gyrated her way into VMA history during a duet with Robin Thicke.
