OMAHA, Neb. - The city of Omaha and the state of Nebraska are continuing to enjoy the spotlight created by Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning's use of the word Omaha in his pre-snap count.
Last week, eight Omaha companies combined to donate $800 to Manning's "Peyback Foundation" for every time Manning yelled "Omaha" during the Broncos' victory over the New England Patriots. Chamber of Commerce officials say Manning yelled about Nebraska's largest city 31 times Sunday, earning his foundation $24,800.
Now, Omaha's zoo has named a penguin chick after Manning.
"Thank you, Peyton Manning, for all your pre-snap mentions of Omaha," a video posted by Nebraska tourism on You Tube said. "We decided to name something after you. It's not a bridge. Or a building. Or a forest. Or even a museum."
The video said "It's this little guy," then showed the rockhopper penguin chick.
"We thought it would be a really cool way to say thanks to Mister Manning for using the word Omaha in his pre-snap chants," said Dennis Pate, Director/CEO of Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium.
