KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A stray dog hit by a car on Halloween is now using a different mode of transportation to get around.
Steve now uses a doggie wheelchair. The accident left him with a broken pelvis and an injured back leg. He had to have his leg amputated.
Before receiving his wheelchair, the workers at KC Pet Project in Kansas City, Missouri, literally had to carry him around.
One of the shelter’s volunteers was able to get Steve fitted for the wheelchair, which he is still getting used to. He is now going through physical therapy to help regain his strength in the hopes he’ll eventually be able to use his remaining back leg without the wheelchair.
He currently is in a foster home. Eventually he will be put up for adoption through KC Pet Project.
