Teen with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma gets trip to Galapagos Islands from Make a Wish Foundation

In January, a 17-year-old who loves to swim was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Used to spending six days a week in the pool, Lauren Alfino had to shift her focus to fighting cancer.

Alfino went through four rounds of chemotherapy, which drained her energy.

Then the Make-A-Wish Foundation stepped in to ease some of that stress by sending Alfino and her family to the Galapagos Islands.

"It gave me so much hope because going through chemo was horrible and it was nice to have some light at the end of the tunnel," Alfino said.

Now Alfino is back in school and back in the pool.

She hopes one day hopes to become a marine veterinarian.
