Teen Attacked By Mountain Lion After Car Problem

Girl Cut On Shoulder, Leg

A teenager said she was attacked by a mountain lion when she stopped on the side of the road to check on a car problem.

Kendra Rutter was driving home from a baby-sitting job when she thought she had a flat tire. Rutter stopped on County Road 51 in Divide.

Rutter said when she got out of her car, the mountain lion attacked her from behind.

Rutter said the mountain lion knocked her into the roadway, but she managed to fight back and kick the cat in the head.

When the mountain lion ran off, Rutter got back in her car and drove home.

Rutter has deep cuts on her shoulder and leg.

The Division of Wildlife told KKTV-TV in Colorado Springs it has set up a trap to catch the animal. If it is caught, it will be euthanized.
