As we go into the Fourth of July weekend, have you heard that Superman's motto has been changed?
The Man of Steel used to say that he fought for "truth, justice and the American way."
But in the latest movie, "Superman Returns," the phrase is different. It's now "truth, justice and ... all of that stuff."
It's only said once in the movie but the director said it's on purpose. He said he made the change to appeal to overseas audiences and because Superman is not just a hero for the United States, but for all the world.
Screenwriter Dan Harris told the New York Post that he doesn't think "the American way" means what it meant in 1945, when the comic book hero was created. He said Superman comes from an alien planet and is here to protect the planet, not just Metropolis, the United States.
But some see the move as unpatriotic.
