Texas man disappears during hike in Mesa Verde National Park

CORTEZ, Colo. - A man on vacation at Mesa Verde National Park disappeared on Sunday.

Mitchel Dale Stehling, 52, of Goliad, Texas, was on vacation with his wife and in-laws when he went hiking alone on Sunday afternoon, he didn't come back, according to Channel 25 in Victoria, Texas.

"[He] was last seen on a nature trail in Chapin Mesa Verde," according to his sister-in-law in Texas.

Park spokeswoman Betty Lieurance said Tuesday about 50 people on horseback, on foot and in a helicopter are searching canyons and trails for Stehling.
