PUEBLO, Colo. - A 23-year-old man was taken into custody after his girlfriend's baby died on Monday.
The 2-month-old girl was taken to the hospital on Saturday. Investigators said the child had internal bleeding and a head injury, symptoms consistent with Shaken Baby Syndrome, according to KRDO-TV.
The baby was taken off life support on Monday. An autopsy has been scheduled.
Bill Martinez was arrested in Colorado Springs. According to the Pueblo Chieftain, Martinez was arrested on a warrant for first-degree murder.
Pueblo Sheriff's Chief Charlene Graham said the mother's four other children were taken by social services and are now being cared for by relatives.
