PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. - Deputies have arrested a couple on suspicion of felony child abuse.
Eliazar Delores Ramos Sr., 45, and Ofelia Melendes-Augustin, 39, lived in a home in Pueblo County with four children ranging in age from two to nine, according to KRDO-TV.
The TV station reported that since July of 2012, there have been four reports of abuse at the home. The sheriff's office said all of the reports were investigated, but the children were not removed from the home due to a lack of evidence.
After a multi-agency review with medical experts, investigators said they were able to establish what they called a "pattern consistent with abuse and neglect."
The sheriff's office said some of the children's injuries were serious, and including burns and fractures.
All four children have been placed in foster care pending the outcome of the case.
Delores Ramos and Melendes-Augustine are being held on $1,000,000 bond.
