ASPEN, Colo. - A California man was rescued from Buttermilk Mountain early Thursday morning after possibly breaking a leg while skiing down after a "full moon party."
The Pitkin County Sheriff's Office said someone called 911 at 2:01 a.m. and identified the injured man as Martin Leonard, of Mt. Baldy, Calif.
Mountain Rescue Aspen, Aspen Ambulance, Aspen Skiing Company and the sheriff’s office sent people to the terrain park on Buttermilk Mountain to find and rescue Leonard. At approximately 2:28 a.m., an employee of the Aspen Skiing Company in a Snowcat found Leonard and his companions.
Leonard was brought down the mountain on a sled at about 3 a.m. and then to Aspen Valley Hospital by 3:29 a.m.
Leonard's injuries are considered non-life threatening, the Sheriff's Office said.
