MONTEZUMA COUNTY, Colo. - The undersheriff who resigned last month in Montezuma County was arrested Wednesday.
Robin Cronk, 42, was jailed on charges of embezzlement of public funds and misconduct, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigations.
"The criminal investigation by agents with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) revealed Cronk allegedly purchased items for personal use over an extended period of time," CBI officials said in a news release.
The Associated Press said officials became suspicious after Cronk's spending on a department-issued credit card suddenly increased this year.
Cronk resigned from his post as undersheriff of Montezuma County in late June.
Cronk is free on bond.
