GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - A team of cold-case experts will investigate the death of a Grand Junction woman who led a double life as a devoted mom and an escort for hire before she disappeared in 2007.
The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reported Friday that the Colorado Bureau of Investigation's cold-case team will look into the death of 34-year-old Paige Birgfeld.
DNA tests confirmed that skeletal remains found in 2012 in a dry creek bed in Delta County were Birgfeld's. Even though a forensic anthropologist told investigators that no cause of death could be determined, investigators are investigating her death as a homicide.
The mother of three sold kitchen products, did odd jobs and ran an escort service.
Police say they have a suspect who was a client of Birgfeld's service, Models Inc. He hasn't been arrested.
Prosecutors and investigators will present the case to the CBI team in Denver on Sept. 12.
