Two people killed after small plane crashes in San Miguel County

UPDATE | Saturday 11:59 a.m. —The two people killed in a small plane crash near the Telluride Airport have been identified. The plot was Bryan Lee Kill, 48, of Huachuca City, Arizona (recently of Telluride). The passenger was identified as Mana Mohtasham, 37, of San Diego.

SAN MIGUEL COUNTY, Colo. – Two people were killed after a small plane crashed in San Miguel County early Thursday afternoon.

The plane was approaching Telluride Regional Airport at around 1:30 p.m. when the airport lost contact with the aircraft. Investigators said several witnesses also reported seeing the small plane go down, according to the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash site was found about an hour later and the two people on board were found dead.

The San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office, San Miguel Search and Rescue, Telluride Fire Department/EMS, and the San Miguel County Coroner are investigating the scene of the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board was notified, and a response plan is being formulated, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said.
