A Fort Carson soldier and his girlfriend missing since Saturday night have been found following a massive search in the Pike National Forest.

The pair hiked out of the forest and were in a store Monday afternoon in the town of Jefferson, some 15 to 20 miles from where they parked their car.

Authorities said Spc. Chadwick Knight, 26, and his girlfriend, Xenia Holzknecht, 19, from Pueblo, were last heard from on Friday. Their car was found over the weekend, parked at the Goose Creek Trail head.

Jefferson County authorities say the two were in an area hit by storms, including some that produced hail, over the weekend.

About 160 people joined the search on Monday. Fort Carson sent a team of soldiers to help in the search and the Civil Air Patrol was providing two fixed-wing aircraft and two helicopters.

"Fortunately we won't need them," Kelly said.
