Summit County Search and Rescue workers found the body of a skier buried in an avalanche on 14,265-foot Quandary Peak, south of Breckenridge Thurssday.

Two men were backcountry skiing on the mountain when they were caught in an avalanche at about 12:30 p.m., according to 7NEWS. They were caught mid-mountain, but witnesses said one of the men rode the avalanche to the bottom.The men were not wearing avalanche safety equipment, 7NEWS reported.Search-and-rescue teams began the search from mid-mountain to the bottom of the avalanche chute in debris 9 to 10 feet deep, before finding the body shortly before 6 p.m.The skier's name was not released, but he was believed to be from the Front Range, according to 7NEWS.Quandary Peak, just off Highway 9, is popular with skiers and snowboarders during the winter months, and with hikers during the summer.
