TELLURIDE, Colo. - A man skiing a 14er fell at least 1,000 feet and had to be rescued Thursday.
The man was reportedly skiing the north-facing couloir on Wilson Peak with two others when he fell and
tumbled, according to the San Miguel County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Bill Masters said the skier was on a steep slope at about 12,500 feet.
Two helicopters were brought in from Olathe and Moab to assist in the rescue.
The skier was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction with serious injuries.
