A chase that ended with a shootout in Texas may be linked to two murders in Colorado during the past week.

At the start of the events in Texas, Montague County Deputy James Boyd was shot twice in the chest but was saved by a bullet-proof vest. A third shot left him with a grazing wound to the head.

Tom Clements was the head of Colorado's Department of Corrections. He was killed at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday when he answered the door at his house in the 17400 block of Colonial Park Drive in Monument.
