Boulder County is offering an easy way to get rid of expired or unused prescription drugs any time of year.

The Sheriff's Office has installed a secure drug drop box where the public can leave unwanted or unused prescription drugs.

The prescription drug drop box is in the vestibule of the Sheriff’s Office headquarters building at 5600 Flatiron Parkway in Boulder. It is available to the public during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

In the past, the Sheriff’s Office has participated in periodic prescription drug drop off programs, but those programs are typically only a few hours, this box will be available year round.

One note, the Sheriff’s Office can’t accept liquids, hypodermic needles or other "sharp," or any bio-hazardous materials.
