Sakic Out At Least 6 Weeks With Herniated Disc

Colorado Avalanche captain Joe Sakic will be out for at least six weeks after suffering a herniated disc during Friday's game at Phoenix. The Avalanche said Wednesday the team's medical staff will prescribe a treatment routine for Sakic. He missed a Nov. 6 game against Minnesota after straining his back in the weight room. He played again Nov. 8 before missing five more games. Sakic missed a Nov. 24 game with an infected tooth.
