Report: San Jose police took a naked sword-wielding man into custody Tuesday after short foot chase

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose police took a naked sword-wielding man into custody after a short foot chase, according to ABC affiliate KGO.

Someone called 911 just after 8 a.m., reporting a naked man with an assault rifle in front of a house.

As officers were on their way, a witness reported seeing the man leave in a vehicle.  Police spotted the vehicle, and the driver stopped right away.

Officers said the man got out of the vehicle naked, waved a large Samurai sword, and said "You're going to have to kill me" several times.

San Jose Police Department Crisis Intervention Team members helped convince the man to drop the sword and surrender to police peacefully.

KGO reports the assault rifle and the man's vehicle have been safely secured.
