A teacher in Eagle County arrested last week on suspicion of sexual assault was allegedly caught after the school's athletic director found her in a school bathroom with a student, according to the Aspen Times.The newspaper said teacher Lauren Redfern came out of the bathroom while the student stayed behind. School administrators confronted the student who told them that he had sex with the teacher in the bathroom, the affidavit obtained by the newspaper said.Because the student was 18, police said the Feb. 9 incident was not a crime.However, after investigating the relationship, deputies believe Redfern was having sex with the student while he was still 17 years old.The sexual encounters took place at both Redfern's home and the victim's home in El Jebel, according to the sheriff's office.Redfern is a physical education teacher and head coach of the girls' basketball team. The school has placed her on paid leave.
