Pueblo Woman 'Descalped' In Brutal Dog Attack

Woman Attacked By Pit Bulls In Pepper Sauce Bottoms Neighborhood

A woman on a walk in a Pueblo neighborhood on Monday morning was attacked by two pit bulls, police said.

"[The victim] was basically descalped, dragged across the roadway by the two pit bulls," said Cpl. Michael Mares with the Pueblo Police Department. "The witness who stopped to render assistance was able to scare the dogs off."

The woman was taken to the hospital. She is expected to survive, but she will likely have to undergo several surgeries.

Animal Control officers found the two dogs and two puppies in a nearby pen.

The owner, Paul Rodriguez of Pueblo, was issued a summons for two counts of unlawful ownership of a dangerous dog, according to KRDO-TV.
