Pueblo Man Charged After Baby Found In Trash Bin

Police: Kevin Buehler Gave Conflicting Stories On Death

Prosecutors in Pueblo have filed first-degree murder charges against a man accused of killing his 9-month-old cousin and dumping her body in the trash.

Kevin Neil Buehler, 22, was charged Monday with first-degree murder, child abuse intentionally causing death and child abuse causing death from negligence.

Iyana Perez's body was found July 3 in a trash bin behind a grocery store. Preliminary autopsy results suggested she died from a closed-head injury.

Police said her parents aren't suspects. The Pueblo Chieftain has reported the mother was in a drug rehab program at the time and the father was jailed on unrelated charges.

KRDO TV reported that a grandmother of the girl left the baby with Beuhler when she went to work.

Buehler first told police that the baby had died overnight in her bed. Police said he then changed his story and said that the child died by accidental poisoning.
