Powerball lottery jackpot grows to $320 million after 12th-consecutive drawing with no winner

Next drawing is Saturday night

INDIANAPOLIS - Powerball is back in the news with a giant jackpot that's grown to $320 million.

Wednesday night's drawing was the 12th-consecutive with no winner, pushing the jackpot over $250,000 for the third time in less than a year.

Last November, two lucky ticketholders won a $587.5 million prize.

This week's jackpot would net a single winner $198.3 million in cash. Of course, the chances of winning are only one in 170 million.

The next drawing is Saturday night.

According to the Powerball website, the white balls drawn the most since Jan. 2012 are (in order of frequency):

5 - 23 - 56 - 3 - 14 - 44

The Powerball number that has hit the most often in the last year is 29.
