Power Out As Xcel Experiences 'Significant Issue'

More than 92,000 people were without power Thursday afternoon because of "significant issues," Xcel Energy said.Xcel did not explain what those significant issues are, only saying that seven substations were impacted by the problem, which occurred just before 4 p.m.Six substations were down for 10 minutes. The seventh substation still had issues until just after 5 p.m., when power was restored.The outage affected people and businesses in Lakewood, Aurora and Denver, said Xcel Energy spsokeswoman Michelle Aguayo.Xcel said it had multiple crews working on the problem.Power was out from Hazel to Franklin streets and Evans to Alameda avenues. Because lights were out in that affected area, traffic was a mess.
