September 25 is National Voter Registration Day

September 25 is National Voter Registration Day.

A day when volunteers, celebrities, and organizations from all over the country will hit the streets to get people registered to vote.

In 2008, 6 million Americans did not vote because they did not know how to register or they missed their state's voter registration deadline, according to the US Census. The group behind National Voter Registration Day said it wants to make sure no American is left out in 2012.

In Colorado, the deadline to register to vote for the November presidential election is October 9. To register, visit the Colorado Secretary of State's website.
