DENVER -- One of the most conservative parts of Colorado is now home to a more moderate political organization.
Together for Colorado Springs launched back in February in hopes of mobilizing moderate and progressive voters in the Pikes Peak region.
“We are committed to really help shift our political landscape in Colorado Springs,” founder Dawn Haliburton-Rudy told Anne Trujillo on this week’s Politics Unplugged. “We will be supporting candidates who are moderate and progressive in order to hopefully change some of the mindset in the city of Colorado Springs.”
While plans for the group had been in works for months before last fall’s election, Haliburton-Rudy says organizers were really propelled into action by the events of November 8.
Candidates supported by the group have already been successful in this spring’s municipal elections.
“The thought behind it was ‘what are we going to do to create, or try to shift and create, monumental change in the city,” Haliburton-Rudy added.
